Benign moles do not always need removal

Many moles are harmless and can simply be monitored over time.

However, there are situations where removal may still be appropriate — either for diagnostic certainty, recurrent irritation, cosmetic reasons, or patient peace of mind.

The decision to remove a likely benign lesion should balance:

  • clinical risk

  • scar burden

  • anatomical location

  • patient preference

  • ongoing surveillance practicality
