BCC
What is it?
The most common skin cancer. It grows slowly and almost never spreads to other parts of the body.
What does it look like?
Often a shiny bump, pink patch, or scab that doesn’t heal. Some look like scars.
Why does it happen?
Caused mainly by long-term sun exposure. Fair skin, sunburns, and older age increase risk.
Is it dangerous?
It doesn’t usually spread, but if ignored it can damage surrounding skin or tissue.
Treatment
Most are removed surgically. Some can be treated with creams, freezing, or other methods.
When to see a doctor again
If you notice another sore that won’t heal or a new lump, have it checked.
